About This Course

Sobu Country Club North Course is a nine-hole, par-35 semi-public course affiliated with the member-based Sobu Country Club and operated by Pacific Golf Management. Designed by Seizo Tomizawa, who also created the club’s tournament course, it is a quiet woodland layout in northwestern Chiba. The course combines undulating and doglegged middle holes, uphill and downhill short holes where club selection is important, and a straight long hole requiring distance. Small bentgrass and Korai-grass greens, generally about 20 to 30 yards across, are protected by surrounding bunkers. Play is entirely self-service and on foot, using an individual pull cart. One, two, or three loops may be played, subject to operating hours and additional fees.

Playing Tips

1
Plan each shot carefully because the nine-hole layout includes undulating fairways and doglegs that can make a direct line risky.
2
Choose clubs conservatively on the uphill and downhill short holes, as elevation changes can significantly affect carry distance.
3
Favor accuracy over excessive power on the long hole, while avoiding difficult recovery positions in the woodland rough.
4
The small bentgrass and Korai-grass greens demand precise approach shots, so prioritize the center of the putting surface when pin positions are uncertain.
5
Expect greenside bunkers to punish misses, and use extra caution with approach shots that leave little room around the putting surfaces.
