The hilly terrain and frequent elevation changes mean you should adjust club selection carefully on up- and downhill shots to avoid coming up short or overshooting greens.

The original course's narrower fairways lined with birch and ponds punish errant tee shots, so prioritise accuracy over pure distance off the tee.

On the newer American-style course many approaches are guarded by water, bunkers and creeks, so play conservatively and favour lay-ups when hazards come into play.

Bentgrass greens can run quickly in warm conditions, so focus on speed control and read subtle breaks, especially on downhill putts.

Hokkaido breezes can alter ball flight—check wind direction at each tee and consider a lower trajectory when it’s blustery.
