About This Course

General Incorporated Association Kobe Golf Club is one of Japan’s oldest golf courses, established in 1903. Located in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, it retains much of its original handcrafted character, offering a unique and historic golfing experience. The 18-hole course stretches just over 4,000 yards with a par of 61, featuring a single Zoysia grass green. Designed by A. H. Groom, the course emphasizes traditional play and natural surroundings. Playing Tips

Despite its short overall yardage, the course’s traditional design rewards accuracy over distance so favor fairway woods or long irons off the tee instead of trying to overpower holes with a driver.

Elevation changes on the Rokko slopes affect carry and roll significantly, so adjust club selection for uphill and downhill approaches carefully.

The single Zoysia green tends to be firmer and can play slower in cool months, so expect lower-bouncing approaches and slower putts and take extra care with distance control.

Wind can funnel through the valleys and change direction quickly, so watch flags and trees before each shot and be ready to make conservative choices.

Older, handcrafted fairways and natural contours can penalize errant shots, so focus on course management and placing tee shots to leave comfortable approach angles.

Kobe’s Rokko area has humid subtropical conditions with hot, humid summers and mild winters; expect a rainy season in June–July, possible typhoon-related rain and wind in late summer, and cooler, occasionally breezy conditions on the mountain compared with the city.

Best Season to Play

Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) offer the most pleasant temperatures and stable conditions, with autumn also providing attractive foliage in the Rokko area.
