Playing Tips

1
On the East Course you can be more aggressive off the tee—take advantage of wider landing areas but prioritize direction to leave good approach angles.
2
On the West Course treat the many water hazards conservatively and plan layups when necessary rather than forcing long carry shots over water.
3
Bentgrass greens tend to be true and can run quick when mown tightly for tournaments, so be cautious with uphill/downhill speeds and avoid coming up short on approach shots.
4
Use the GPS-equipped carts to confirm exact distances to hazards and pin positions, especially on holes with forced carries to water.
5
Account for variable winds on exposed holes; a club up or down can make a big difference, so check wind direction before committing to a drive or long iron.

Weather & Seasonal Information

Local Weather Patterns
Shiga has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and a risk of typhoons in late summer; winters are cool with occasional frost or light snow, and inland/hilly courses can experience variable winds and afternoon showers in summer.
Best Season to Play
Spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures and stable weather for golf, avoiding the summer heat and typhoon risk.
