Playing Tips

The main 18 holes have wide, tree-lined fairways where accuracy and avoiding the trees often pays more than sheer distance, while the Ishiyama 9 requires more strategic shot placement.

Significant elevation changes on the hilly layout mean club selection can play one or two clubs different than the raw yardage, so pay attention to uphill and downhill shots.

Bentgrass greens are generally true with subtle breaks, so take extra time to read putts and trust slower, smooth strokes on longer lag putts.

Open or elevated holes can pick up local breezes, so factor wind into club selection especially in the afternoon and on exposed tees.

Shiga (Otsu) has a typical Kansai climate with humid summers and a rainy season in early summer; lake breezes can develop near Lake Biwa and afternoons can become breezy, while late summer may see typhoon influence.

Best Season to Play

Late spring through autumn (May–November) is best for comfortable temperatures and stable conditions, with autumn offering the clearest weather and fall colors while summer brings heat and possible typhoons.

Dress Code

During play, please refrain from wearing clothing not sold as golf (sports) wear, such as T-shirts or jeans. Please wear golf shoes with soft spikes or spikeless soles during play. For safety and heatstroke prevention, wearing a hat is recommended during play.
