About This Course

Ootaki Country Club is a spacious 27-hole hillside golf course located in Otaki Town, Chiba Prefecture. Designed by renowned architect Sadakichi Mano and opened in 1976, the course is divided into three distinct courses—East, West, and South—offering a total yardage exceeding 10,000 yards. The club features thoughtfully designed challenging short holes and scenic views, especially around the South course’s azalea-bordered holes. Facilities include extensive practice areas with a driving range, bunker and putting practice spots, and an undulating practice green. Easily accessible by car and shuttle bus from nearby train stations, Ootaki provides an enjoyable setting for golfers of various skill levels.

Playing Tips

The hilly, 27‑hole layout rewards accurate tee shots and conservative course management rather than sheer distance.

The South Course features azalea‑lined holes in spring and several short par‑3s that require precise club selection and placement.

Greens are a mix of bentgrass and zoysia so expect faster, truer putting on bent surfaces and slower reactions on zoysia and adjust speed accordingly.

Significant elevation changes mean club selection can vary widely, so play conservatively on downhill approaches and trust yardage adjustments for uphill shots.

Wind can be variable and occasionally gusty on exposed ridges, so check flags and factor wind into your strategy while using the range and practice greens to dial in distance control.
