At nearly 6,900 yards the course plays long on some par 4s and par 5s, so carry sufficient distance and consider laying up to favorable angles on doglegs rather than forcing risky lines.

Wind near the Hakkoda foothills can change with elevation and time of day, so check flags and vegetation before every shot and adjust club choice; soft spikes are recommended.

Late spring through early autumn (roughly May–October) is best, with midsummer to early autumn (July–September) offering the most stable playing conditions and well-kept greens; the course is generally unusable during heavy winter snow.
