About This Course

Keya Golf Club is a scenic 18-hole course located in Itoshima, Fukuoka, designed by renowned architect Shiro Akahoshi. Known for its rolling terrain and unique seaside winds, the course offers a distinctive challenge with its rare Zoysia grass greens, the only type used in a men's professional tournament in Japan. Every August, the club hosts a popular men's pro golf tournament, attracting top players from across the country. Visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Genkai Sea from the clubhouse restaurant, where the specialty dish, sea bream chazuke, is highly recommended.

Playing Tips

1
The hilly, rolling layout rewards accurate tee shots and strategic placement rather than pure distance.
2
Coastal winds from the Genkai Sea can shift during a round so club selection should be adjusted frequently, especially on exposed holes.
3
Approaches must account for the course’s unique Zoysia (Korai) greens which react differently from bentgrass, so check green speed and aim to leave yourself uphill putts when possible.
4
At championship length (about 7,144 yards) favor conservative course management over aggressive risks to avoid big numbers.

Weather & Seasonal Information

Local Weather Patterns
Fukuoka’s coastal setting brings warm, humid summers with strong sea breezes and a late‑summer rainy/typhoon period, while springs and autumns are generally mild and pleasant for golf.
Best Season to Play
Spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) when temperatures are mild and conditions are stable; avoid the hottest, most humid part of summer and the late-summer typhoon period if you prefer calmer rounds.
