About This Course

Country Club Green Valley is a scenic 36-hole golf course located at an elevation of 800 meters in Yamanashi Prefecture, just 90 minutes from central Tokyo. The club offers two distinct courses: the Shirakaba Course, played using riding carts with panoramic mountain views, and the Suzuran Course, a more casual self-play course using electric carts restricted to cart paths. Designed by Sam Snead, the course features bentgrass greens and a hilly layout. Soft spikes are required, and group play with multiple carts side-by-side is not allowed. Visitors can also explore the course via Google Street View before their round.

Playing Tips

1
The hilly layout and elevation changes require careful club selection—adjust one club up or down for uphill and downhill shots.
2
Bentgrass greens run fairly true and can be faster in warm, dry conditions, so focus on distance control and reading subtle breaks.
3
Use riding carts on the Shirakaba Course to save energy and keep pace, while the Suzuran Course restricts carts to paths so expect more walking and longer transitions between shots.
4
Wind can pick up on exposed ridgelines, especially in the afternoon, so play lower shots or adjust your aim to account for crosswinds.

Weather & Seasonal Information

Local Weather Patterns
At 800 meters elevation the course is generally cooler than the lowlands with cold mornings, frequent afternoon mountain breezes, and the possibility of fog or rapid weather changes; winter often brings frost or snow.
Best Season to Play
Late spring (May–June) and autumn (September–November) offer the most pleasant conditions, while the rainy season and winter snow/frost can affect play.
