About This Course

Unimat Yamaguchi Golf Club is a scenic 18-hole course located in Shunan City, known as the only wintering site for hooded cranes on Honshu. Designed by renowned architect Seizo Tomizawa, it offers a unique layout with two equally challenging greens, doubling the enjoyment for players. The course features wide fairways and a mostly flat terrain suitable for golfers of all ages and abilities. Practice facilities include a 200-yard driving range, as well as dedicated areas for bunker and approach shots. Since 2015, the club has introduced GPS marshal navigation, adding a modern touch to the golfing experience.

Wide, mostly flat fairways reward straight tee shots, so prioritize fairway placement to set up shorter approaches.

Confirm which of the two greens is in play on each hole and adjust club selection accordingly since pin position can change how you attack the approach.

Bentgrass greens are generally smooth and can play faster in warm months, so be cautious with putt speed on longer reads.

Use the 200‑yard driving range and the dedicated short‑game areas to dial in distances and trajectory before your round.

Coastal breezes often increase in the afternoon and during late‑summer typhoons, so check forecasts and consider taking extra club when it’s windy.

The area has a mild, humid climate with hot, humid summers and cool winters, a rainy season around June–early July, and frequent coastal breezes that can pick up in the afternoons or during typhoons.

Best Season to Play

Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures and stable conditions; avoid the rainy season in June and the typhoon-prone late summer.

Dress Code

At golf courses and other social venues where many people gather, please consider your attire so as not to cause discomfort to others. T-shirts, sandals, jeans, tracksuits, and camouflage clothing are not allowed. Please remove your hat and sunglasses inside the clubhouse. Refrain from walking around while drinking cup coffee or canned beer. To ensure everyone has a pleasant day, please observe proper etiquette and manners!
