About This Course

Tosa Country Club, located in Kochi Prefecture, offers a challenging 36-hole seaside layout featuring three distinct courses: Katsurahama, Muroto, and Ashizuri. Katsurahama is surrounded by mountains, demanding strategic play, while Muroto overlooks the Pacific Ocean with unique seaside greens. The 18-hole Ashizuri course is longer and requires consistent focus throughout. Known for its tricky winds and complex greens, the club has hosted many notable tournaments over the years. With soft spike-only policies and stunning views from the final tee, Tosa Country Club provides a rewarding and memorable golfing experience on Japan’s scenic Shikoku island.

Playing Tips

1
Expect strong and changeable coastal winds that will affect club selection and ball flight on many holes, especially on the Muroto seaside routing.
2
On Katsurahama, play strategically from the tee and favor position over pure distance because mountain-framed holes reward careful approach angles.
3
Ashizuri is the longest 18-hole layout so emphasize accuracy and course management to avoid large numbers on its long par‑4s and par‑5s.
4
Greens are bentgrass and can be firm and subtly contoured under tournament conditioning, so prioritize precise approaches and meticulous green reading to minimize three‑putts.
5
Observe the soft‑spike policy and allow extra margin on seaside holes where wind and firm turf can produce more run‑out after landing.

Weather & Seasonal Information

Local Weather Patterns
The coastal location produces a humid subtropical climate with warm, wet summers (including the June rainy season and occasional typhoons in late summer), mild winters, and frequent, sometimes strong and shifting sea breezes that significantly affect shots near the ocean.
Best Season to Play
Spring (March–May) and autumn (October–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures and the most stable conditions, while the rainy season, hot humid summer and peak typhoon months are less favorable.
