Playing Tips

The hilly layout produces frequent elevation changes so adjust club selection—take an extra club for uphill approaches and consider less club for downhill shots.

Many fairways are framed by trees, so prioritize accuracy off the tee rather than sheer distance to avoid blocked second shots.

Bentgrass greens reward well-struck approach shots and can be subtly undulating, so aim to leave yourself uphill putts and spend time reading breaks.

Holes on higher ground can be affected by crosswinds on the Kibi Highlands, so check flag direction and play a lower ball flight when wind is strong.

Some holes run near streams connected to the Asahigawa River, so play conservatively when water is in play and favor safe lines over heroic carries.

The Kibi Highlands have warm, humid summers with occasional thunderstorms, mild and breezy springs, and cool winters with occasional frost; exposed ridges can be noticeably windier than sheltered valleys and rainfall is moderate compared with coastal areas.

Best Season to Play

Late spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) are the best times to play for mild temperatures and attractive seasonal colors; summers can be hot and stormy while winters are cool with possible frost.
