Playing Tips

Fairways are generally wide but the course is long, so use your driver selectively and place tee shots to leave comfortable mid-to-long approach distances.

Most greens are protected by four or more bunkers, so aim for the center of the green rather than flirting with the bunkered pins to avoid big numbers.

Bentgrass greens tend to be true and can play firm and fast, so be cautious with long lag putts and spend time reading subtle breaks.

The terrain is mostly flat with gentle undulations, so watch for ground roll on approach shots and use the slopes to feed the ball toward the flag when possible.

The Kanto plateau around Lake Kasumigaura has humid summers with a June–July rainy season and a risk of late-summer typhoons, milder and drier spring and autumn conditions, and breezy moments coming off the lake that can affect ball flight.
