About This Course

Royal Star Golf Club is a relaxed 27-hole course set on the gentle hills of Chiba’s Boso Peninsula. The layout blends natural scenery with strategic design, offering players a rewarding challenge. The course is mostly flat except for a notable downhill hole, featuring wide fairways and few out-of-bounds areas. Strategic hazards and subtle fairway contours add unexpected difficulty, encouraging thoughtful play. The newer section includes water features that demand careful shot planning, especially on a right dogleg fifth hole. Recommended for golfers seeking a balanced test of skill in a peaceful, scenic setting. Soft spikes are suggested.

Playing Tips

1
Wide fairways and relatively few O.B. allow you to be aggressive off the tee, but aim for the flatter parts of the fairway to avoid tricky approach angles caused by subtle undulations.
2
Play the Out course with an attacking mindset and the In course more conservatively, picking targets that leave simple, single-club approaches into the greens.
3
On the newer course holes expect ponds and creeks to guard landing areas—avoid trying to cut corners and favor positional tee shots to the safe side of doglegs.
4
There is a notable downhill hole that requires club-down selection; always account for extra roll and a longer carry on downhill approaches.
5
Greens are bentgrass with subtle breaks, so prioritize being below the hole and expect modest speeds — lag putts if you are above to avoid three-putts.
