About This Course

Oak Hills Country Club is a forest course located in Katori, Chiba. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., it was the first course in Japan to feature bentgrass greens with a single green design, giving it an authentic American feel. The greens are spacious, averaging 700 square meters, and the course includes strategically placed water hazards that add to the challenge. Players need to carefully plan each shot to avoid trouble and score well. The club is operated by Accordia Golf and restricts point rewards to bookings made through official channels. Soft spikes are required for play.

Playing Tips

1
Accuracy off the tee is more important than sheer distance because the tree-lined, forest layout and strategically placed water hazards punish wayward drives.
2
With one large bentgrass green on each hole, aim for the correct section on approach shots since the expansive surfaces can hide subtle breaks and runoffs.
3
Expect true, often faster greens due to bentgrass—take careful note of slopes and speed on your first putt to avoid three-putts.
4
Plan conservatively around holes with visible water; laying up to a preferred angle for approach shots often yields better scoring opportunities than trying heroic carries.
