About This Course

Nara Manyo Country Club is a beautifully designed 18-hole golf course located just minutes from central Nara and accessible from Osaka. Designed by renowned architect Osamu Ueda, the course features a harmonious layout of pine trees, hills, and ponds that create both scenic beauty and strategic challenges. The front nine are relatively flat with thoughtfully placed water hazards, while the back nine require thoughtful play over varied elevations. Modern amenities include GPS-equipped carts with score tracking, free Wi-Fi, and enhanced facilities for women. From summer 2025, the club will offer paid cart access on fairways and cooling carts for added comfort.

Playing Tips

The front nine is relatively flat with several pond-crossing holes so prioritize accuracy off the tee to keep the ball dry and avoid penalty strokes.

The back nine features noticeable elevation changes so pay close attention to club selection and distance control on approach shots.

Bentgrass greens are generally receptive but can have subtle contouring, so focus on hitting firm, accurate approaches and read putts carefully.

Several holes have narrower landing corridors lined by pines and trees, so controlled tee shots and course management often beat trying to overpower with the driver.

Use the GPS-equipped carts for exact yardages and, when fairway riding is available from summer 2025, take advantage of closer recovery angles; also be sure to wear soft spikes.

Local Weather Patterns

Nara and the Kansai region have hot, humid summers with afternoon thunderstorms and occasional typhoon influence, mild and changeable springs and autumns with variable winds, and cool, relatively dry winters, with local swirling breezes near hills and stands of pine.

Best Season to Play

Spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures and stable conditions, while summer is hot and humid with thunderstorm and typhoon risk and winter is cool and drier.

Dress Code

During play, please refrain from wearing clothing not sold as golf (sports) wear, such as T-shirts and jeans. During play, please wear golf shoes with soft spikes or spike-less soles. During play, wearing a hat is recommended to prevent accidents and heatstroke.
