Playing Tips

As a mountainous course with significant elevation changes, carefully adjust club selection for uphill and downhill shots because yardages can play longer or shorter than measured.

Accuracy off the tee is more important than distance since many fairways are contoured and landing areas can be narrow.

Greens are a mix of bentgrass and zoysia, so expect variable speeds—bentgrass tends to be faster and truer while zoysia (korai) can be slower and affected by grain.

Wind can be deceptive on ridge tops and in valleys, so check wind direction at each tee and factor it into club choice and target lines.

Local Weather Patterns

Minokamo in Gifu experiences a humid climate with a rainy season in June, hot humid summers (July–August) often affected by typhoons, and cool winters with occasional frost but generally light snowfall at this elevation.

Best Season to Play

Best played in spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) when temperatures are mild and course conditions are firm; avoid the June rainy season and the hot, humid midsummer.

■ When visiting, please wear a jacket, blazer, or similar outerwear as a rule (except during the hot period from June to September). ■ Please refrain from visiting or playing in jeans, sweatpants, T-shirts, tank tops, etc. ■ Please refrain from visiting in sandals, slippers, geta, Crocs, or similar footwear. ■ Do not wear towels around your neck or shoulders. ■ For safety and heatstroke prevention, please wear a hat.
