Playing Tips

1
This is a hilly, tree-lined layout that rewards accuracy off the tee more than pure distance, so prioritize fairway position over always using driver.
2
Holes 5 and 13 look toward Mount Ontake and are relatively exposed, so expect stronger wind and adjust club selection for both tee shots and approach shots.
3
Greens are a mix of korai (zoysia) and bentgrass, meaning korai surfaces tend to be slower and firmer while bent greens are quicker and require a softer touch when putting.
4
Because the course plays at about 500 m and includes elevation changes, plan club selection for uphill and downhill approach shots and allow for slightly different distance carry than at sea level.

Weather & Seasonal Information

Local Weather Patterns
At about 500 m elevation in Gifu the course is generally cooler than the lowlands, with warm humid summers and a chance of morning fog or mist in shoulder seasons, occasional gusty winds on exposed holes, and cold winters with possible frost or snow.
Best Season to Play
Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures and the clearest views of Mount Ontake; summer brings humidity and rainy-season risk while winter can bring frost or snow.
