Playing Tips

Although the course is largely flat, ponds, valleys and doglegs demand accuracy off the tee rather than pure distance to avoid penalties.

Lake Biwa can create noticeable crosswinds on exposed holes, so factor wind direction and strength into your club selection and aim.

Well‑maintained bentgrass greens run true and can be moderately fast, so focus on approach speed control and hitting the proper side of the green.

Many holes feature water or well‑guarded greens, so play conservatively and lay up when the risk of attacking the pin is high.

Local Weather Patterns

The Lake Biwa area has humid summers with a rainy season in June and occasional typhoon activity in late summer, while spring and autumn are generally mild and clear and winters are cool lakeside with occasional cold snaps.

Best Season to Play

Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most comfortable temperatures and clear views of Lake Biwa and the Hira mountains, avoiding the rainy season and summer heat.

During play, please refrain from wearing clothing not sold as golf (sports) wear, such as T-shirts and jeans. During play, please wear soft spikes or spikeless golf shoes. During play, wearing a hat is recommended for safety and heatstroke prevention.
