The course alternates between open, links‑style holes and tighter, tree‑lined holes so position your tee shots to give comfortable second shots rather than always aiming for max distance.

Expect noticeable elevation changes—take one club more for uphill approach shots and consider the roll on long downhill shots when selecting clubs.

Wind off the Aso area can be changeable and strong on exposed holes, so watch flag direction and favor controlled trajectories into the wind.

Greens are bentgrass and can play firm and fast in dry conditions, so focus on pace control and carefully read subtle breaks.

At nearly 6,900 yards from the back tees, choose tees that suit your distance to avoid long forced carries and play conservatively around wooded holes to minimize big numbers.

The area has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and a rainy season in June–mid July, a risk of typhoons in late summer/early autumn, and cooler, occasionally frosty winters; exposed holes can be breezy due to proximity to Mount Aso.

Late spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) offer the best conditions with mild temperatures, clear skies and the nicest views of Mount Aso.
