The course is nearly 7,000 yards, so length and smart club selection from the tee are important—bring a full set and plan for long approaches on several par 4s.

Many holes feature ponds and Mediterranean-style water carries, so favor accuracy over distance and aim for safe bailout areas to avoid big numbers.

The hilly, undulating terrain produces elevation changes that affect club selection, so take an extra club for uphill approaches and one less for downhill shots.

Bentgrass greens are generally receptive but can present subtle breaks and speed changes, so spend extra time on green reads and note grain direction.

Wind from the Pacific can be a factor on exposed holes—check local conditions and play conservatively into the wind to avoid ballooned approach shots.
