Kumamoto Chuo Country Club is a beautifully designed 18-hole course set on a gently rolling hill in Kikuchi, Kumamoto. Designed by Osamu Ueda, it offers a spacious and strategic layout with views toward the majestic Aso and Unzen mountains. The course is lined with large trees such as camphor, cypress, and cedar, separated by pine and oak groves, creating a peaceful and natural setting. Most holes offer clear views of the pin from the tee, and the course’s unique feature is that the par sequence of the front and back nines is identical. Soft spikes are required, and the greens are Bentgrass.

Many holes provide clear tee-to-pin sightlines so use visual lines and carefully account for uphill and downhill changes when selecting clubs.

Bentgrass greens roll true but feature subtle breaks and slopes, so spend time reading pace and line before putting.

Favor controlled, well-placed tee shots rather than aggressive shaping because trees and rough can heavily penalize wayward drives.

Wind can be variable due to surrounding mountains, producing crosswinds on exposed holes, so check flags frequently and adjust club selection accordingly.
