Despite its wide fairways, Koshigaya's overall length and strategically placed ponds, creeks, and bunkers reward accurate long shots rather than pure power.

Be especially cautious on approach shots because water hazards and creeks come into play on several holes, making conservative club selection prudent.

The course has two types of greens—Zoysia and Bermudagrass—so expect slower, tighter reads on Zoysia in cool months and faster, truer surfaces on Bermuda in summer.

Wind from the nearby river can affect ball flight on exposed holes, so check wind direction and factor it into club choice, especially on long par 4s and par 5s.

Use the wide fairways to play a controlled tee shot and leave yourself manageable approach angles to avoid bunker-rimmed greens and uneven lies.
