The course is long and hilly, so long hitters can gain an advantage but should balance distance with accuracy on sloping fairways.

Bentgrass greens are well maintained and can run true and relatively fast, so focus on precise speed control for approach and lag putts.

Exposed holes feel the Zao mountain breezes—check wind direction and strength carefully and club up or down accordingly.

Elevation changes are common, so expect uphill shots to play longer and downhill shots to play shorter; adjust club selection and ball flight.

Soft spikes are required, and the course is well managed so expect good conditioning—play conservatively from uneven or tight lies.
