The mountain routing uses natural contours so expect frequent elevation changes—club up for uphill and club down for downhill approach shots.

Fairways tend to be narrower in places, so prioritize accuracy off the tee over distance to avoid heavy rough and tree-lined penalties.

Bentgrass greens are relatively true and receptive but can play quick on slopes, so pay close attention to green breaks and entry angles.

Wind in the Tanzawa foothills can be gusty and change direction, especially in the afternoon, so check conditions before every tee shot.

Because many holes follow the natural terrain, laying up to favorable angles to approach the green often yields better scoring than attacking from poor lies.
