The three distinct nines require different strategies: favor accuracy in the wooded Ariake Course, play conservatively around the ponds on the rolling Tachibana Course, and take advantage of the wide fairways on the Unzen Course.

Wind off Ariake Sea and Tachibana Bay can be steady on the hilltop, so always check wind direction and club up or down accordingly and consider a lower ball flight on windy days.

Greens are a mix of Bentgrass and Zoysia, so expect faster, truer putting on Bentgrass and slightly slower, firmer reads on Zoysia—adjust speed and lines accordingly.

Several holes feature notable elevation changes and downhill approaches toward the bay, so account for elevation when selecting clubs and make use of the cart GPS yardages for better club decisions.
