Accuracy off the tee is rewarded because fairways are relatively flat but water, valleys and doglegs penalize errant drives.

Adopt a conservative line on doglegs to leave a shorter, more manageable approach rather than trying to cut the corner.

Bentgrass greens are generally smooth and receptive, so focus on pace control and read subtle breaks carefully.

Account for gentle elevation changes—club up on uphill approaches and club down on downhill shots to avoid coming up short or overshooting.

Wind is usually mild inland but can pick up on exposed holes, so check conditions and adjust your lines accordingly.
