Sakuragaoka Country Club, located in Tama City, Tokyo, is a distinguished 18-hole course opened in 1960 and designed by renowned architect Shiro Akaboshi. Favor position over maximum distance off the tee on the gently undulating fairways to leave easier approach angles.

Account for elevation changes when selecting clubs because uphill and downhill holes can play noticeably longer or shorter than the yardage suggests.

Greens were refurbished in 2014 and include both bentgrass and zoysia surfaces, so expect clear differences in speed and rolling behavior between holes and check pin placements before your approach.

When in doubt aim for the center of the green since sloping lies and cherry-tree lined rough can leave difficult recovery shots.

Winds are typically light to moderate but can pick up in the afternoon, so adjust club selection on exposed holes and trust conservative yardages when breezy.
