Rurikei Golf Club is a refreshing highland resort course located at an elevation of 650 meters in Kyoto Prefecture. With 27 strategic holes across three distinct courses—East, Central, and West—it offers a variety of landscapes, from scenic pine forests and peaceful ponds to wide greens and gentle hills. The cooler temperatures, about 5 to 6 degrees lower than in Osaka and Kyoto city, make it especially comfortable for summer play. Treat the East, Central and West nines as distinct layouts and adjust strategy for each nine rather than playing them all the same way.

Account for elevation changes on many holes—uphill shots will play longer and downhill shots shorter, so adjust club selection accordingly.

Favor accuracy off the tee because pine-lined fairways and several ponds penalize wayward drives more than sheer distance rewards.

Approach shots should consider bentgrass greens that are generally true and can be moderately fast, so control spin and respect subtle breaks when putting.

Be prepared for steady highland breezes and cooler air that reduce carry, especially on exposed holes, so club up when unsure.
