Tee placement is important on the front nine because several holes feature downhill tee shots and carries over water or valleys, so aim for the wider landing areas to avoid trouble.

Long hitters can gain an advantage on the longer back-nine holes such as the par‑5s and holes 12 and 18, but leave yourself a sensible approach to the greens rather than forcing low-percentage shots.

Greens are bentgrass and generally receptive, though firmness can vary with the season, so focus on accurate approach shots and controlling trajectory into the greens.

Wind can pick up on exposed ridges in the afternoon, so check the wind at elevated tees and adjust club selection accordingly.

When faced with valley or water carries, favor conservative lines and lay up when a clear aggressive carry brings too much risk.
