The front nine features several forced carries over valleys and water, so prioritize accuracy off the tee and avoid ruling out a conservative club on tight holes.

The back nine is flatter and longer, so if you can hit a long accurate drive you can set up shorter approaches and pick up strokes.

Fairways are on the narrower side, so consider using a 3-wood or hybrid to keep the ball in play when trouble lurks down the sides.

The course uses bentgrass greens that are not excessively quick but hold subtle breaks, so take time to read the slopes for accurate lag and short putts.

Significant elevation changes and valley winds can alter club selection, so adjust yardage for uphill/downhill lies and account for swirling winds before every shot.

The Takashima area tends to be a bit cooler than nearby lowlands due to elevation, with a humid rainy season in June, hot and humid conditions in midsummer with occasional typhoons, crisp and stable weather in autumn, and cold winters with possible snow at higher elevations; winds can be changeable and may funnel through valleys.

Best played in spring (April–May) and autumn (September–November) when temperatures are mild and skies are generally stable; avoid the rainy season in June and the colder, occasionally snowy winter months.
