Karuizawa Asama Golf Course is a beautiful 18-hole highland course located in Nagano Prefecture, offering stunning views of Mount Asama. The course features a par 70 layout with bentgrass greens and allows golf carts on fairways, depending on weather conditions. In 2024, the course upgraded all golf carts to new two-seater models with improved control and introduced GPS navigation for accurate yardage and scorekeeping. After your round, enjoy a relaxing lunch at the nearby Asama Prince Hotel’s restaurant or try their takeout ASAMA burger with prior reservation. On-site hot spring facilities are also available for an additional fee.

At about 5,700 yards and par 70 the course rewards accuracy and course management more than sheer distance, so prioritize fairways and smart hole-by-hole strategy.

New two-seater carts with GPS and fairway driving allowed make it easy to check yardages and pick the right club, so rely on the GPS distances especially on elevated or downhill approaches.

Being a highland course near Mount Asama, elevation changes and thinner air can alter carry—confirm yardage on the GPS and consider clubbing down or up accordingly.

Bentgrass greens are generally true and receptive but can have subtle breaks, so focus on precise approach shots and careful reads on putts.

Exposed holes can be affected by mountain breezes and crosswinds, so account for wind on tee shots and long irons, particularly in the afternoon.
