Place tee shots carefully on the hilly fairways to avoid ending up below the ball on sloping lies and to leave favorable angles into the greens.

Several holes require precise distance control because of lake-crossing carries and well-placed water hazards, so favour accuracy over maximum distance on those tee shots.

Expect coastal breezes on exposed holes and adjust club selection accordingly, especially when the wind comes off the Sea of Japan.

Bentgrass greens are typically smooth and receptive, so focus on pace and subtle reads rather than aggressive putts from off the green.

Account for elevation changes on approach shots—take one more club for uphill shots and one less for long downhill plays.
