Golf Park Sakata is an 18-hole hilly golf course located in Sakata City, Yamagata. Designed by Graham Marsh, the course features a flat and open layout that takes advantage of the natural terrain. The Gassan (front) nine has many ponds protecting landing areas and approaches, so prioritize accuracy and consider conservative lay-ups rather than always attacking.

The Chokai (back) nine features longer, more strategic holes with elevation changes, so choose clubs for position and favor placement over pure distance to leave manageable approach shots.

Coastal winds from the Sea of Japan can be variable and strong—check conditions each tee and be prepared to alter ball flight and club selection by one or two clubs.

Greens are bentgrass and can run fairly quick in warm months and slower when cool or wet, so pay close attention to speed and break; note the course requires soft spikes only and offers rentals if you travel light.
