The course is hilly so pay close attention to elevation changes and generally club up for uphill approach shots and club down for long downhill plays.

Greens are bentgrass and tend to run fast, so aim to land short of the hole and use firm, controlled putts to avoid three-putting.

Exposed slopes can amplify sea breezes from Beppu Bay, so check wind direction and favor a lower, penetrating ball flight when into the wind.

Aim tee shots toward the side of the fairway that provides an easier angle into the green to avoid blocking-line approaches on sloping lies.

Beppu has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters, a rainy season around June, and occasional typhoon-driven winds in late summer, while coastal sea breezes can make conditions changeable on the hillside course.

Late spring (April–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most pleasant temperatures and stable conditions, while the rainy season in June and the typhoon-prone late summer should be avoided if possible.
