Appi Kogen Golf Club features a unique 36-hole layout set amidst the beautiful natural landscape of the Appi Resort area in Iwate Prefecture. Divided into the Champion and Queen courses, it offers a mix of challenging and scenic holes suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced players. The Champion Course is known for its flat, elegant design and has hosted multiple ladies’ professional tournaments, while the Queen Course offers strategic play with water hazards and bunkers. Both courses are played at a highland elevation of about 600 meters and provide easy riding in five-person carts for a relaxed round.

The Champion Course features fast bentgrass greens, so focus on leaving your approach shots below the hole and be conservative with long putts.

On the Queen Course many greens are protected by water and bunkers, so favour accuracy over attacking pins and consider layups when hazards come into play.

Because the course sits around 600 m elevation, the ball can carry a little farther than at sea level, so check club selection on longer holes.

Exposed highland holes can be breezy, especially in the afternoon, so always account for wind direction and strength when choosing trajectory and club.

Tight fairways reward accuracy off the tee, so consider fairway woods or long irons when accuracy is more important than maximum distance, and take advantage of the comfortable five-person carts to keep a steady pace.

Late spring through early autumn (roughly May–October) offers the most pleasant conditions for play, while winter months are generally snowy and not suitable for golf.
